    Payment payload

    From input to publication

Worked example: a euro invoice payment

Use these demonstration values only to compare the generated payload. Do not pay the example IBAN. A valid checksum says nothing about who owns an account.

Download an image or print the complete payment block

Choose Deutsch for German field labels and validation messages; the encoded payment data stays the same. The amount accepts 12.30 or 12,30. Download PNG for an ordinary document editor, or SVG when your layout software supports vector images. Insert the image without cropping its white border or stretching it out of proportion.

Print payment slip opens a separate block with the QR code and readable recipient, IBAN, amount and reference. Use the browser print preview to select your printer or save a PDF. This is a payment block, not a complete invoice. Check it at the intended physical size, especially after placing it in another document.

    Why the blank lines matter

Each line has a fixed role. The empty fifth line is the BIC, which may be omitted for this EEA example using version 002. The two empty lines after the amount leave the purpose and structured reference empty. The invoice number belongs to the unstructured remittance text.

An RF creditor reference is a different field with its own checksum. Use either that reference or the remittance text, never both. Do not add line breaks to the payment text because they would shift the payload fields.

    Validate before printing

The generator checks IBAN syntax and checksum, BIC where required, amount precision and the 331-byte payload limit. UTF-8 characters can occupy more than one byte, so a message that appears short can still exceed the limit. Errors prevent copying a payload or downloading a QR image.

This is an EPC credit-transfer QR code, not a Swiss QR-bill or a payment gateway. Banking-app support differs. Scan the exported SVG in a target bank app and compare every field, then cancel the transfer. No payment is needed to check whether the data was decoded.

    Publish a readable fallback

Place the real recipient, IBAN, amount and payment text next to the QR code on the invoice. The payer should be able to compare the decoded data and enter the transfer manually. Keep the white border around the code and test the actual print size, not only the screen preview.

For a voluntary amount, leave Amount empty instead of entering zero. Before distributing a corrected invoice, regenerate the code and recheck its text. A code already printed or emailed cannot be changed remotely.

    Verification checklist

    1. Compare the payload line by line with the example.
    2. Replace the first IBAN checksum digits with 00: no QR or export should remain available.
    3. Use the real invoice values, scan the exported code and cancel before any payment.
    4. Check the printed code and keep plain-text payment details alongside it.

    What this tool is for

SEPA payment QR codes reduce typing errors in bank transfers by encoding recipient, IBAN, amount, and payment reference in a standardized payload. They are useful on invoices, donation pages, club membership forms, printed notices, and small business documents where a bank transfer is still the preferred payment method.

This generator creates the payment payload and QR code in the browser. It is designed for simple euro transfers, not for complex payment gateways. The practical benefit is speed and accuracy: users scan the code, review the transfer in their banking app, and confirm it there.

    How to use it

    1. Enter the recipient and IBAN. Add a BIC for non-EEA recipients, an optional euro amount, and either an RF reference or a one-line payment description.
    2. Choose English or German controls. Download the QR code as PNG or SVG, or print the payment block with readable bank details.
    3. Check all payment details manually before adding the code to an invoice or website.
    4. Test the QR code with at least one banking app before sending it to customers.
    Other use cases

    Invoice footer

Add the QR code next to the bank details so customers can scan instead of typing the IBAN and invoice number manually.

    Club membership payment

Use a fixed recipient and reference pattern. Members only need to verify amount and purpose before confirming the transfer.

    Donation page

Create one QR code for a suggested amount and another without a fixed amount when donors should choose freely in their banking app.

    Important notes

    • The QR code and payment payload are generated in the browser. The current tool does not send recipient, IBAN, amount, or reference values to a server.
    • Always verify the IBAN, recipient name, amount, and reference before publication.
    • For invoices, keep the plain bank details visible next to the QR code for accessibility and fallback.
    • Use high-contrast printing. Low-quality print or small QR codes can fail in banking apps.

    Limitations

    • The tool does not execute payments and does not connect to a bank.
    • Banking app support can vary by country and institution.
    • Payment data entered into printed or shared QR codes cannot be corrected after distribution.

    FAQ

What is an EPC QR code?

An EPC QR code contains standardized SEPA transfer data such as recipient, IBAN, amount, and payment reference.

Should payment data be checked before use?

Yes. Always verify recipient, IBAN, amount, and reference before publishing or scanning payment codes.

Does the QR code transfer money automatically?

No. It only pre-fills transfer details in a banking app. The user still reviews and confirms the payment in the bank app.

Can I use it for non-euro payments?

The EPC payment QR format is intended for SEPA euro transfers. Other currencies or payment systems may require a different format.

Should the plain IBAN still be shown?

Yes. Show the readable bank details as a fallback for users who cannot or do not want to scan the QR code.

Is the entered payment data stored?

The generator is designed to run in the browser. You should still avoid entering real payment details on shared or untrusted devices.
